ಪರಿಚಯ
ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗ
ಜುಲೈ 1992 ರಿಂದ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೀಡಿಯಾಟ್ರಿಕ್ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವು ಒಂದು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಯುನಿಟ್‌ಆಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 29, 2008 ರಂದು ನಡೆದ ಕಿದ್ವಾಯಿ ಸ್ಮಾರಕ ಗಂಥಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಆಡಳಿತ ಪರಿಷತ್ತಿನ (ಜಿ.ಸಿ) 41 ನೇ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗ (ಪೀಡಿಯಾಟ್ರಿಕ್ ಆಂಕಾಲಜಿ) ಎಂದು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕಿಸಿ ಸೃಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಪೀಡಿಯಾಟ್ರಿಕ್ ಆಂಕಾಲಜಿ ವಿಭಾಗವನ್ನು 28.3.2009 ರ ದಿನಾಂಕದ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಜ್ಞಾಪನಪತ್ರ KMIO / EST / 1/94 / 2008-09 ರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗವನ್ನಾಗಿ ರಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳು
ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ 2016 ರ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್‌ನಿಂದ ಪೀಡಿಯಾಟ್ರಿಕ್ ಆಂಕಾಲಜಿ ಸೂಪರ್ ಸ್ಪೆಷಲಿಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಡಿ.ಎಂ. ಪದವಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ 3 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ತರಬೇತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ವಿವಿಧ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ಎಂ.ಡಿ ಪೀಡಿಯಾಟ್ರಿಕ್ಸ್ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಪದವಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಯೋಜಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತರಬೇತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಪೀಡಿಯಾಟ್ರಿಕ್ ಆಂಕಾಲಜಿ ಫೆಲೋಶಿಪ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ 4 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತರಬೇತಿ ನೀಡಿದೆ.

Dr. ARUN KUMAR A R

Dr Arun Kumar A R has been working in the department for the past 5 years and is a guiding force for the department. He did his MBBS and MD(Pediatrics) from Sri Devraj Urs Medical College, Kolar. After working as Assistant Professor in Dept of Pediatrics for 5 years in SDUMC, Kolar, he joined the Pediatric Oncology department and has been working since then. He is an active member in Indian Academy of Pediatrics and has been executive committee member in IAP-BPS and also treasurer (IAP- BPS). He has been instrumental in organising various academic events like CMEs in the department. His special interests are Childhood Leukemia and Lymphoma. He is also a primary investigator for the ICMR project – Pattern of care and survival studies on cancers in childhood, lymphoid and hematopoietic malignancy.
Dr. NUTHAN KUMAR M.K

Post doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology
He is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Oncology at Kidwai Cancer Institute. He has more than 5 years experience in the field of Pediatric Oncology. He completed his under graduation from Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, Mysore in 2010 followed by postgraduation MD in Pediatrics from apex centre for Pediatrics, Post Graduation Institute of Medical Education and Research(PGIMER), Chandigarh in 2014. He has worked in Christian Medical College, Vellore for 1 ½ years. During his tenure he worked on a number of research projects. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Hemato Oncology in Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital, Chennai(2 years). He has been working in the department of Pediatric Oncology , Kidwai Cancer Institute, as an Assistant Professor since 2017. He has many national and international publications in peer reviewed journals to his credit. He has also attended many conferences of PHO as a speaker and panelist. His areas of interest have been Acute Leukemia, Neuroblastoma, Soft tissue Sarcoma, Bone tumors and Brain tumors. His vision for future is to open a Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant unit in the institute and make it available for poor children.
Dr. PRAKRUTHI S. KAUSHIK
MD(Paediatrics, DNB (Paediatrics), Fellowship in Paediatric Hematology Oncology (FIAP)
Prakruthi, currently working as Assistant Professor, is a young budding paediatric hemato-oncologist. After doing Bachelor of Medicine from Jagadguru Shree Shivarathreeshwara Medical College, she pursued her MD paediatrics from Indiragandhi Institute of Child Health. Her passion for the subject led to a 2 year fellowship in Pediatric Hematology Oncology from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital. She is trained to deal with benign hematological disorders and pediatric cancer including hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Her areas of interest are leukemia, retinoblastoma, neuroblastoma, cancer survivorship programme and thalassemia. Her motto " No child should die in the dawn of life"
