ಪರಿಚಯ
ವಿಕಿರಣ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗ
ಕೆಎಂಐಒಗೆ ಹಾಜರಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡುಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಸೇವೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಕಿರಣ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಲಕ್ಷಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ವಾರ್ಷಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸುಮಾರು 8000 ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಮಾರು 350 ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಟೆಲಿಥೆರಪಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಾಚಿಥೆರಪಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ಸುಮಾರು 2000 ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲಾಖೆಯು ಸಲಹೆಗಾರರು, ನಿವಾಸಿ ಸರ್ಜನ್ಸ್, ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಕವಾಗಿ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದು ಕೆಳಗೆ ಟೆಲಿಥೆರಪಿ, ಬ್ರಾಚಿಥೆರಪಿ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಇಲಾಖೆ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ಮಲ್ಟಿಡಿಸ್ಕ್ರಿಪ್ಲಿನರಿ ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕ್ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಬೋಧನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳು ಕೆಎಂಐಒನಲ್ಲಿ.
ಕಿದ್ವಾಯಿ ಮೆಮೋರಿಯಲ್ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಆಂಕೊಲಾಜಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ 14,000 ಹೊಸ ರೋಗಿಗಳು ನೋಂದಣಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸರಿಸುಮಾರಾಗಿ 60% ರಷ್ಟು ವಿಕಿರಣ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ದಿನ 300 ರಿಂದ 350 ರೋಗಿಗಳು ವಿಕಿರಣ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮುಂದಿನ ದಶಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ದ್ವಿಗುಣಗೊಳ್ಳಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಊಹಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಅಸಮರ್ಪಕ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆ ಇದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಸಕ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಿದ್ಧತೆ ಇದೆ. ವಿಕಿರಣ ಥೆರಪಿ ಸೇವೆಗಳ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಅಗತ್ಯವು ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಮತ್ತು ರೇಡಿಯೇಶನ್ ಥೆರಪಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವ ಶೇಕಡ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ತರಬೇತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಮಾನವಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತರಬೇತಿ ಮತ್ತು ರಚಿಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಾಯಕ ತರಬೇತಿಯ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸೌಕರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಲು ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸುಧಾರಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ರಚಿಸುವ ಸಮಯದ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಇದೆ. ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ರೋಗಿಗಳು.
ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನವೀಕರಿಸುವ ಕಾಲಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವೂ ನಮ್ಮ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಲಾ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವುದು. ಪೂರ್ಣಾವಧಿಯ ವಿಕಿರಣ ಗ್ರಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞರು, ವಿಕಿರಣ ಭೌತ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು, ವಿಕಿರಣ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಜ್ಞರು ಅಥವಾ ರೇಡಿಯಾಥೆರಪಿಸ್ಟ್ಗಳು, ದಾದಿಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಗ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳಂತಹ ಈ ಯಂತ್ರೋಪಕರಣಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೆಎಂಐಒಯು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ನುರಿತ ಮತ್ತು ತರಬೇತಿ ಪಡೆದ ರೇಡಿಯೊಥೆರಪಿ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.
ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು
- Clinical services: Out-patient and in-patient treatment of emergent and non-emergent patients of all malignancies.
- Diagnostic services in clinic: Physical examination of the patient, Indirect laryngoscopy, per vaginal examination and biopsy of amenable lesions.
- Brachytherapy services which include- Intracavitary brachytherapy, Interstitial brachytherapy, Mould therapy, intraluminal brachytherapy and permanent interstitial implant.
- Teletherapy techniques: 2 Dimensional Conventional Radiotherapy, 3-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy,Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy,Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy, dynamic conformal arc therapy, Stereotactic Radio Surgery Stereotactic Radiotherapy, Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy,Image Guided Radiotherapy.
- Diagnostic/ therapeutic imaging: Simulation usingPhilips Wide BoreComputed Tomography Simualtor Machine including 4 dimensional computed tomography using Bellows, Cone Beam Computed Tomograph ( CBCT) with on-board imaging.
- Special radiotherapy techniques: Active Breathing Coordinator- Respirator Motion Management Elekta system , Deep Inspiration Breath Hold Radiotherapy, Total Body Irradiation and Total Skin Electron Treatment, 5 Moving Laser with tumour lock system, 6 Degree Couch Rotation Hexa Pod couch.
- Complete physics planning team: treatment planning of cases on Eclipse and Monaco TPS with contouring and image fusion facilities. Also available is MIM Maestro data storage and contourig station.
- Ongoing follow up with specialised reaction clinics twice in a week and subsequent patient follow ups post treatment.
- Additional: Stepper’s Rectal Ultrasound for Prostate.
- Academic services: ongoing post-graduate teaching program inclusive of clinical teaching, case discussions and presentations, multidisciplinary seminars, student seminars, faculty teaching programmes, journal clubs, ward rounds, demonstrations, clinico pathological conferences.
- Research: various research activities are carried out with approval from scientific and ethical committee clearance.
