ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗ

ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಕಿದ್ವಾಯಿ ಸ್ಮಾರಕ ಗಂಥಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಧಾರ ಸ್ಥಂಭವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಿದ್ವಾಯಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ತತ್ವಾದರ್ಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಈ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಆರೈಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಈ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಅರ್ಪಣಾಮನೋಭಾವ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಕಿದ್ವಾಯಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸುಮಾರು ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ರೋಗಿಗಳು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುತೇಕ ರೋಗಿಗಳು ಈ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಳ ಪೈಕಿ ಒಂದು ಸಾಂತ್ವನದ ನುಡಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಉಪಶಾಮಕ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಳು ಸೇರಿವೆ.

ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಯೂನಿಟ್‌ಗಳಿವೆ. ವ್ಯಾಪಕ ಅನುಭವ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಲಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಪರಿಷ್ಕೃತ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ರಿಯಾ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದೂ ಯುನಿಟ್‌ನ ನೇತೃತ್ವ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ 3 ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು, 3 ಸಹ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು, 4 ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು, 3 ಹಿರಿಯ ರೆಸಿಡೆಂಟರು ಮತ್ತು 24 ಎಂ.ಸಿಎಚ್. ಪದವಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗವು ರಾಜೀವ್‌ಗಾಂಧಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಯೋಜಿತಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಸೂಪರ್‌ ಸ್ಪೆಷಾಲಿಟಿ ಕೋರ್ಸುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಪದವೀಧರ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತರಬೇತಿ ನೀಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿದೆ. NEET PG ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದ 8 ಜನ M.Ch. PG ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಪ್ರವೇಶಾವಕಾಶ ಇದೆ. ಹಲವು ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಕುರಿತಾದ ವಿಚಾರಗೋಷ್ಠಿಗಳು, ಜರ್ನಲ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್‌ಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮೂಲ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್‌ಗಳ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣತೆಗಳಂತಹ ಹಲವು ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಠಿಣ ಬೋಧನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಈ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಅನುಸರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷ ತರಬೇತಿಯನ್ನು ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮೂರೂ ಯುನಿಟ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ಕಲಿಕೆಗಾಗಿ ಇತರೆ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳಿಗೂ ಸಹ ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾಗಿ ನಿಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಬೇರೆಬೇರೆ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂ.ಎಸ್. ಜನರಲ್ ಸರ್ಜರಿ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಪದವಿ ಕೋರ್ಸುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಓದುತ್ತಿರುವ ಉತ್ಸಾಹೀ ಯುವಜನತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತುಂಬುವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಕಿದ್ವಾಯಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಹ್ಯ ನಿಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬೋಧಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ರಾಜೀವ್‌ಗಾಂಧಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಯೋಜಿತವಾಗಿರುವ ಓ.ಟಿ.ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ B.Sc. ಪದವಿ ಕೋರ್ಸ್‌ನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಾತ್ವಿಕ ಬೋಧನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷ ತರಬೇತಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಗಂಥಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗವು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ 10 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾ ಪ್ರಾಧಿಕಾರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಆಯ್ಕೆಗೊಂಡು ಈ ಕೋರ್ಸ್‌ಗೆ ಸೇರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಸಮಾವೇಶಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಘಟಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರೆಸಲು ಬದ್ಧರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ರಾಜೀವ್‌ಗಾಂಧಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೌಢಪ್ರಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿಯಾಗಿ, M.Ch. ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸಹ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮೂರೂ ಯುನಿಟ್‌ಗಳು ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ.

COURSES  OFFERED

The Department undertakes training for MCh degree in Surgical Oncology. Every year 8 candidates are selected by entrance examination conducted by NEET.

The course is of 3 years duration. During the course, the students are exposed to all types of treatment for solid tumors. Apart from this, they have special postings during which they are posted to Radiation Oncology, Pathology, and Medical Oncology for 15 days each and various other oncology Departments like Head and Neck Oncology / Oral Oncology /Gynaecological Oncology for 3 months each and other Oncology institutes like Tata memorial hospital, Adyar cancer institute for 15 days each.

B.Sc OT Technology course is offered which is for a period of three years followed by 6 months of internship.

M.S (General surgery) postgraduate students from various medical colleges in Karnataka are posted in the Department for oncology exposure as part of their training programmers.
